Attach files to your LinkedIn campaign messages

You can now attach a file to a Send message step in your LinkedIn campaign — a PDF one-pager, a case study, an image, a slide deck, even a short voice note. You upload it once when you build the step, and from then on that file goes out with that message to every prospect the step reaches, automatically. No re-uploading per person, no copying links into the text — attach it once, and everyone who receives that step receives the file too. It's the same paperclip you know from the Inbox, now on your automated campaign steps.

What does attaching a file to a campaign message do?

It pins a file to one specific Send-message step in your sequence. When the campaign runs that step for a prospect, the file is delivered along with the text of that message, landing in the person's LinkedIn conversation exactly as if you'd attached it yourself. Because the file is saved with the step, you set it up a single time and it reaches everyone who flows through that step — the first ten prospects and the thousandth all get the same file.

Saved once, sent to everyone the step reaches
Upload the file while editing the step. It's stored with the step, so it's automatically included every time that message is sent — you never re-upload it for each prospect.
Tied to one step, not the whole campaign
The file belongs to the step you attached it to. If your sequence has a first message and a follow-up, you can attach a one-pager to the first and leave the follow-up as plain text, or attach a different file to each.
Works with your message text and variables
The file goes out alongside whatever you've typed, including personalization variables like {{first_name}} and {{company}} — so every prospect gets a message addressed to them plus the same attached file.

This is part of WarmySender's LinkedIn Outreach pillar. WarmySender is a 4-pillar outreach platform — Cold Emailing, Email Warmup, LinkedIn Outreach, and Multichannel sequences — and attaching a resource to a campaign step means your automated outreach can carry the same proof (a deck, a case study, a one-pager) you'd hand over in a real conversation.

How do I attach a file to a message step?

Open your campaign in the builder, edit the Send message step you want the file on, click the paperclip, choose the file from your computer, and save the step. You'll see the file name appear on the step so you know it's attached, and from then on it travels with that message to every prospect the step reaches.

  1. Open your LinkedIn campaign and go to the sequence builder.
  2. Click the Send message step you want to add a file to (or add a new one under Actions → Send Message).
  3. Write your message as usual — you can use the Insert Variable button for personalization.
  4. Click the paperclip icon on the step and pick the file (for example a PDF, image, or deck).
  5. Wait a moment for it to attach — the file name shows on the step.
  6. Save the step (and your campaign). The file is now saved with that step and will be sent with the message to everyone that step reaches.

To change the file later, edit the same step, remove the current attachment, and add a new one — the new file applies to prospects who reach the step from that point on. Prospects who already received the message keep the version they were sent.

Can I attach a voice note to a campaign step?

Yes. Alongside files, a Send-message step can carry a short voice note — a spoken intro recorded once and sent with that message to every prospect the step reaches. Keep it short and natural (a voice note that runs 20–40 seconds usually lands best), and remember it plays the same for everyone, so record something that works as a warm, general opener rather than anything tied to one person's name.

Because a campaign voice note goes to everyone on the step, it's best kept generic and friendly. When you want a truly personal spoken reply for one individual, record it live in the Inbox reply box once they've responded — that's where per-person voice notes belong.

What file types and sizes can I attach?

Everyday business files work well — PDFs, images (like PNG or JPG), and slide decks or documents — plus a short voice note. Send the kind of thing you'd naturally share in a LinkedIn chat: a one-pager, a case study, a product deck, a screenshot. Keep files reasonably small so they open quickly; if a very large file won't attach, save a lighter or compressed version, or link to it from your message text instead.

Good choices
A one-page PDF, a short slide deck, a case-study PDF, an image or screenshot, a compact spreadsheet, or a brief voice note.
Size
Attach files up to 20 MB. A one-pager or a lightweight deck sits comfortably under that; if you're over, compress it or share a link in the message instead.
If a file won't attach
It's almost always because the file is too large. Export a smaller version (for a deck, "reduce file size" when exporting to PDF), or drop a link to the full document into the message text.

Examples: what to attach on which step

A few concrete ways teams use campaign-step attachments. In every case the file is saved once on the step and sent to every prospect that step reaches.

Best practices for campaign attachments

The file goes to everyone on the step, so choose it the way you'd choose something to share with a room, not one person. A few rules of thumb keep attachments helpful rather than heavy.

Is attaching files to campaigns safe for my account?

Yes. Attaching a file doesn't change how carefully your campaign sends. Your messages still go out at the same steady, natural pace and stay within LinkedIn's safe daily limits — the attachment simply rides along with a message that was going to be sent anyway. Account safety always comes first at WarmySender, and adding a file to a step never speeds sending up or pushes past your limits. If a file ever can't be included on a particular send, the message still goes out with your text so the outreach isn't held up.

Common adjacent questions about attaching files to LinkedIn campaign messages in WarmySender.

Will the file go to every prospect on the step?

Yes. Once you attach a file to a Send-message step, it's saved with that step and sent along with the message to every prospect that step reaches — you upload it once and it goes to everyone, in order, at your campaign's normal pace. You never re-upload it per person.

Can I attach a different file to each message step?

Yes. Each attachment belongs to the step you added it to, so a two-message sequence can have a one-pager on the first step and a case study on the follow-up — or a file on one step and plain text on the other. Edit each step to set its own attachment.

What file types can I attach, and how big?

Everyday business files — PDFs, images (PNG, JPG), slide decks, and documents — plus a short voice note. Keep files under 20 MB so they open quickly. If a file won't attach, it's almost always too large; export a smaller version or share a link to it in your message instead.

Does the attachment work with personalization variables?

Yes. The file is sent alongside your message text, and your personalization variables like {{first_name}} and {{company}} still fill in per prospect. Each person gets a message addressed to them plus the same shared file.

How do I change or remove the file later?

Edit the same Send-message step, remove the current attachment, and add a new one (or leave it off to go text-only). The change applies to prospects who reach the step from that point on; anyone who already received the message keeps what they were sent.

Should I attach one file or several?

One well-chosen file per step. A single one-pager or short deck gets opened much more than a bundle of documents. If you have more to share, put a second file on a later follow-up step so it arrives once there's genuine interest, rather than crowding the first message.

Is this different from attaching a file in the Inbox?

Yes. A campaign attachment is saved once on a step and sent to everyone that step reaches — a shared resource for automated outreach. An Inbox attachment is something you add to a single reply, per person, during a live conversation. Use the campaign attachment for the shared one-pager; use the Inbox for the personal file once someone replies.
