What happens to my campaigns when I reconnect LinkedIn?

Your campaigns come with you. When you reconnect your LinkedIn account — whether you enter your details again, sign in a second time after a security check or a verification code, or connect the same LinkedIn profile again — your existing campaigns follow the new connection automatically. There is nothing to rebuild, no list to re-import and nobody to add back. Your prospects keep their exact place in the sequence, so nobody is messaged twice. Your daily and weekly sending allowance comes across too, exactly as it stood, which means reconnecting is never a way to send more today. And your campaigns pick back up on their own: one that was running keeps running, and one we had paused because the account had gone away starts again by itself. A campaign you paused yourself stays paused — that is your call, and a reconnect never overrides it.

WarmySender runs your outreach on autopilot with AI agents, across Cold Email, Email Warmup, LinkedIn, Instagram and Multichannel sequences — plus real-time email verification. This guide answers a LinkedIn Outreach question: what happens to the campaigns already running on an account when you reconnect it.

What carries over when you reconnect

A reconnect is not a fresh start. When you connect the same LinkedIn profile again, everything that was already set up on that account moves across to the new connection by itself:

In short: after a reconnect you should recognise your account. The work you have already done is still there.

Nobody gets messaged twice

This is the question people worry about most, so here is the plain answer: reconnecting does not send anyone a second invitation or a duplicate message.

Each prospect carries their own place in the sequence with them. If someone had already received your connection request, the campaign knows that, and picks up at the next step for that person rather than repeating the one they have already had. Someone who was waiting on a follow-up still gets that follow-up, at the point in the sequence you designed. Nobody is sent back to the start of your sequence because you signed in again.

The same is true of anyone who accepted or replied while you were away. Their progress is recorded against them, not against the connection, so it survives the reconnect.

Your sending allowance carries over too — on purpose

Your daily and weekly sending allowance is not reset by a reconnect. Whatever you have already sent today and this week is carried forward, so your allowance continues exactly where it was rather than starting over. Reconnecting is never a way to send more today.

That is a deliberate protection for your LinkedIn account, not a limitation we impose for the sake of it. Your allowance exists because a sudden jump in activity is one of the clearest signals LinkedIn looks for, and an account that sets off that signal can be restricted. If reconnecting handed back a fresh allowance, an ordinary afternoon of signing in again could quietly double a day's activity — which is exactly the pattern the allowance is there to prevent. Carrying the used amount across keeps your day looking like one steady day, however many times you sign in during it.

Your allowance refreshes on its own normal schedule, in its own time, exactly as it would have done if you had never reconnected. If you would like more detail on how an account's allowance is divided when several campaigns share it, see how campaigns share one LinkedIn account's daily limit.

Your campaigns pick back up on their own

You do not have to restart your outreach after a reconnect. A campaign that was running keeps running. And if we had paused a campaign ourselves because the account had gone away, it starts again on its own once you reconnect — you do not need to go and find it.

There is one thing a reconnect deliberately leaves alone, and it is worth knowing about:

If you do find a campaign paused, open it and it will tell you the reason it was paused for. When you are happy, click Resume and it carries on from exactly where it was — nobody is sent back to the start of your sequence.

Whenever sending does pick up, it continues on your normal schedule and inside your normal allowance. There is no catch-up burst to make up for a quiet spell, because that would be exactly the kind of spike your account is protected against.

What to do if a campaign says it needs relinking

Sometimes a campaign shows a note saying it needs relinking, or asking you to reconnect your account to resume. Here is what that means, in plain terms.

It means the campaign is still pointed at a LinkedIn connection that is no longer active — an older connection for the same person, left behind when a newer one was made. The campaign will not send while it is in that state, and we would rather tell you that plainly than let it sit there reporting that it is running while nothing goes out.

The reassuring part: nothing is lost while it waits. Your prospects stay enrolled and everyone keeps their exact place in the sequence, for as long as it takes you to get to it.

The fix

  1. Go to your LinkedIn accounts page.
  2. Connect the same LinkedIn profile again — the same person the campaign was built on. Connecting a different profile will not clear the notice.
  3. Give it a moment. The campaign reattaches itself to the live connection on its own, usually within a few minutes. You do not need to edit the campaign or pick the account again by hand.
  4. Open the campaign and click Resume.

If the campaign still shows the relinking notice after you have reconnected, first check that the profile you connected really is the same one the campaign was built on, and that it now shows as connected on your accounts page. If it does and the notice has not cleared, email [email protected] with the campaign name and we will take a look for you.

Three situations, worked through

"LinkedIn asked me for a security code and I signed in again — do I lose my campaign?"

No. Being asked for a code is LinkedIn's ordinary way of confirming it is really you, and signing in again is simply a reconnect. Your campaign, your prospects and each person's place in the sequence all come across to the new connection. Your allowance comes across as well, so you carry on from where you were instead of starting the day over. Your campaign carries on too: one that was running keeps running, and if we had paused it because the account had gone away, it starts again by itself once you are reconnected. There is nothing you need to restart.

"I connected the same profile a second time by mistake"

No harm done. Connecting the same LinkedIn profile again is treated as a reconnect rather than as a brand-new account, so your existing campaigns move across to the newer connection, together with your prospects and their progress. Nobody is messaged twice as a result, and a campaign that was running carries on running — so there is usually nothing left to do at all. The one exception is a campaign you had paused yourself: that stays paused, because a reconnect never overrides your own choice.

"My campaign says it needs relinking"

That note means the campaign is still pointed at a connection that is no longer active, so it is not sending — and it will keep telling you so rather than pretending otherwise. Your prospects and their progress are safe while it waits. Go to your LinkedIn accounts page, connect the same LinkedIn profile again, and give it a moment: the campaign reattaches itself to the live connection, usually within a few minutes. Then open the campaign and click Resume. If the notice is still showing after that, email us and we will sort it out.

Instagram works the same way

Everything on this page applies to Instagram accounts and campaigns too. Reconnect the same Instagram profile and your Instagram campaigns, your prospects and their progress come with you, and your sending allowance carries over rather than resetting.

There is one deliberate difference. An Instagram campaign that was paused while the account was away waits for you to press Resume rather than starting again by itself. That is on purpose: restarting Instagram sending on a connection that has just changed should be your call, not ours. Everything is already reattached by the time you get there, so a single Resume is all it takes.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to rebuild my campaigns after reconnecting LinkedIn?

No. Your campaigns, your prospects and each person's place in the sequence all move across to the new connection on their own. There is nothing to rebuild, no list to re-import and nobody to add again. A campaign that was running carries on running, so in most cases there is nothing for you to do at all.

Will anyone be messaged twice after I reconnect?

No. Each person keeps their exact place in the sequence, and the campaign picks up from the step they were on. Somebody who has already had an invitation or a message does not get a second one because you reconnected.

Does reconnecting give me a fresh sending allowance for the day?

No, and that is deliberate. Whatever you have already sent today and this week comes across with you, so your allowance continues exactly where it was. Reconnecting is never a way to send more today. That protection exists for your LinkedIn account: a sudden jump in activity is exactly the pattern that gets an account restricted, and your allowance is what stops that happening.

My campaign is still paused after I reconnected — why?

Reconnecting does not pause a campaign that was running, and a campaign we had paused ourselves because the account had gone away starts again on its own. So a campaign that is still paused afterwards is paused for a different reason — most often because you paused it yourself, which we never undo, or because it had reached a limit, or because we paused it after a run of failed steps. Open the campaign to see the reason given, and resume it when you are ready.

It means the campaign is still pointed at a LinkedIn connection that is no longer active, so it cannot send. Nothing is lost while it waits: your prospects and their progress stay exactly as they are. To fix it, go to your LinkedIn accounts page and connect the same LinkedIn profile again. The campaign reattaches itself to the live connection, usually within a few minutes, and you can then resume it.

I connected the same LinkedIn profile a second time by mistake — did I break anything?

No. Connecting the same profile again is treated as a reconnect, not as a brand-new account, so your existing campaigns move across to the newer connection along with your prospects and their progress. A campaign that was running carries on running, and nobody is messaged twice.

LinkedIn asked me for a security code and I signed in again — is my campaign safe?

Yes. Being asked for a code is LinkedIn's ordinary security check, and signing in again is simply a reconnect. Your campaign, your prospects and their progress all come across, and a campaign that was running keeps running — there is nothing to restart. Your allowance comes across too, so you carry on from where you were rather than starting the day again.

Does the same thing happen when I reconnect Instagram?

Almost. Reconnecting the same Instagram profile keeps your Instagram campaigns, your prospects and their progress, and your sending allowance carries over in exactly the same way. There is one deliberate difference: an Instagram campaign that was paused while the account was away waits for you to press Resume rather than starting again by itself. Restarting Instagram sending on a connection that has just changed should be your call, not ours — and because everything is already reattached by then, a single Resume is all it takes.

It still says my campaign needs relinking after I reconnected — what now?

First check that the profile you reconnected is the same LinkedIn profile the campaign was built on, and that it now shows as connected on your LinkedIn accounts page. If the notice is still there after that, email [email protected] with the campaign name and we will look at it for you.
