Why is my campaign "running" but no emails sent yet?

You just launched a cold email campaign, the status says running, but the Sent count still shows 0. Almost always, this is completely normal — and nothing is broken. WarmySender sends your campaign gradually rather than all at once, so right after launch you may see a short stretch of "running" with little or nothing sent yet while the first emails go out and the rest are paced through the day.

This is part of the WarmySender 4-pillar platform — Cold Emailing, Email Warmup, LinkedIn Outreach, and Multichannel sequences. Gradual, paced sending applies to your cold email campaigns.

Why campaigns send gradually (and not all at once)

Sending a whole list in one burst is one of the fastest ways to land in spam and hurt your domain's reputation. Real people don't fire off hundreds of identical emails in the same minute, and mailbox providers notice when a sender does. To keep you in the inbox, WarmySender deliberately spreads your sends out:

The result is a natural, human-looking sending rhythm that protects your deliverability and your domain reputation over the long run. It is intentional — it is not a delay or a bug.

The first emails start promptly after launch

You don't have to wait long to see things move. Right after you launch (or resume) a campaign, the first few emails begin going out within a couple of minutes — as long as the current time is inside your sending window and it's one of your send days. The remaining emails are then paced out across the rest of the day.

So the typical experience is: launch the campaign, see "running" with 0 sent for a brief moment, then watch the first sends land within a few minutes, and the count keep climbing through the day.

Look at the "Next email" time

The clearest way to confirm your campaign is working is the "Next email ~time" shown on the campaign. It tells you when the next message is scheduled to go out. If you see an upcoming time there, your campaign is healthy and simply pacing — there's nothing to fix. If that time is later in the day, it just means your sending is spread out, exactly as designed.

What affects how fast your campaign sends

How quickly emails go out depends on a few settings you control:

If you want to send a little faster, you can connect another mailbox, widen your sending window, add send days, or raise your daily limit — but it's worth keeping a steady, moderate pace, because that's what keeps you in the inbox.

If it still shows nothing after a while

If your sending window has been open for a while and you still see no sends, run through this quick checklist:

  1. The campaign has contacts. Open the campaign's Prospects tab and confirm people are actually enrolled. If exclusion rules removed more people than you expected, you'll see a smaller count there.
  2. At least one mailbox is connected and active. A campaign needs a connected sending mailbox. If your only mailbox is disconnected, reconnect it and the campaign picks back up automatically.
  3. The current time is inside your sending window and on a send day. If "right now" falls outside your chosen hours or on a day you didn't select, sending waits until the next valid time — check the "Next email ~time" to see when that is.

If you've checked all three and it still looks stuck, just reply to our support with your campaign name and we'll take a look.
