Why was my card declined?
The short answer
If your card was turned down when you paid, or when you tried to save a card, WarmySender now shows a note in the app saying in plain words what happened and what to do. If you still haven't paid an hour later, we also send you one email with the same explanation.
This page explains the common reasons. None of them are your fault, and most take a few minutes to fix.
The most common reason: your bank sees an international payment
WarmySender's payments are processed outside most customers' countries. The charge shows on your statement as WARMYSENDER.COM. Some banks block international or online subscription payments by default, especially on business cards and debit cards. That is often why a card works everywhere else: most of the shops you use are in your own country.
What to do: call the number on the back of your card (or use your banking app) and ask the bank to allow international or foreign online payments to WARMYSENDER.COM. Then try again. Or simply use a different card.
Other reasons, and what to do
Your bank turned it down without saying why
This happens often, and banks do not always tell the shop the reason. What to do: call your bank, tell them you are trying to pay WARMYSENDER.COM, and ask them to allow it. Then try again.
Not enough available, or a spending limit
The card may not have enough available balance, or the payment may be over a daily, monthly or per-payment limit. What to do: check the available amount and your limits in your banking app, raise the limit or free up balance, and try again. Or use another card.
The card details didn't match
The security code, card number, expiry date or postcode didn't match what your bank has on file. What to do: type the details again exactly as they are printed on the card, and use the billing postcode your bank knows.
The card has expired
What to do: add your replacement card on the Billing page and use that one.
Your bank asked you to approve the payment
Many banks ask you to confirm a payment in your banking app or with a code. If that isn't approved in time, the payment is turned down. What to do: try again, keep your phone close, and approve the request as soon as it arrives.
Our payment safety check stopped the attempt
To protect you and us from misuse, a safety check can stop an attempt. This can happen with a brand-new card, or after several quick tries in a row. What to do: wait a few minutes, then try again or use another card. If it keeps happening, contact support and we will look at it with you.
A temporary problem
Sometimes there is a short-lived glitch on the way to your bank. What to do: wait a few minutes and try again.
Where you'll see the explanation
- In the app. A note at the top of every page says what happened and what to do, with a link to this page.
- By email, at most once a day. Only if you still haven't paid an hour after the attempt.
- It clears by itself. The note disappears once a payment goes through or a card is saved.
If you were in the middle of cancelling or your plan is ending
You can keep your plan. On the Billing page, choose Reactivate. It keeps your current price, as long as you do it before the current period ends.

Common questions
My card works everywhere else. Why not here?
Most of the shops you use are in your own country, so your bank treats those payments as ordinary. WarmySender payments are processed outside most customers' countries, so some banks treat them as international payments and block them unless you allow them. Ask your bank to allow international online payments to WARMYSENDER.COM, then try again.
Will trying again charge me twice?
No. A card that is turned down is not charged. Only a payment that goes through is charged, so you can safely try again.
Can I use a different card?
Yes. You can add another card on the Billing page and use it instead. If one card keeps being refused, a different card from a different bank is often the quickest fix.
Do you see my card number?
No. We only see the type of card and its last 4 digits. The full card number is never shown to us.
Why didn't my bank tell me why?
Banks often turn a payment down without giving the shop a reason, and some do not send you any message either. That is why we show you the most likely causes and what to do about each. Calling the number on the back of your card is the fastest way to get a clear answer.
Who do I contact if it still does not work?
Reply to any WarmySender email, or send a message from Support inside the app. Tell us roughly when you tried and which card type you used, and we will look at it with you.
