How do I get email addresses for my contacts?
Short answer: there are two ways a contact gets an email address in WarmySender. Either you build the list from the built-in leads database — searching and filtering 200M+ business contacts is free, results stay masked, and a contact's email address is revealed the moment you save it to a list — or you import a list that already includes the addresses, such as a CSV export from your CRM. That's it, and both are quick.
Two things worth knowing up front, because they're the source of most confusion. First, the Email Verifier checks addresses you already have — it tells you whether an address is safe to send to, but it never discovers a missing one. Second, there is no per-profile lookup: you can't hand us a name or a LinkedIn profile and get an address back, and that's a deliberate choice we explain below.
WarmySender is a 4-pillar outreach platform — Cold Emailing, Email Warmup, LinkedIn Outreach, and Multichannel sequences. This guide covers the step before any of them: getting a real, sendable address onto each contact.
The three tools, at a glance
These do different jobs, and it's easy to expect one to do another's. Here's the split:
| Tool | What it does | What it costs |
|---|---|---|
| Leads database | Gives you new contacts with an email address. This is the discovery tool. | Searching and filtering are free. Saving a contact reveals its address and uses one lead from your plan's monthly allowance. |
| Import (CSV) | Brings in addresses you already hold, and attaches them to contacts you already have. | Free. Contacts count toward your plan's contact limit. |
| Email Verifier | Checks an address you already have and tells you whether it's safe to send to. | Uses your plan's monthly verification allowance. "Unknown" results are always free. |
Option 1: Find contacts in the leads database
This is the way to get email addresses for people you don't have yet. The leads database holds 200M+ business contacts, searchable inside the app by job title, seniority, department, industry, company, and location.
The important part — and the bit most people miss on their first visit — is how the reveal works:
- Searching and filtering are completely free. Stack as many filters as you like, page through the results, and refine until the list is right. None of that costs anything.
- Results stay masked while you browse. You can see who each person is — name, job title, company, location — but the email address is hidden. That's on purpose: it means you can explore the whole database and build exactly the list you want before spending anything.
- Saving reveals the address. Select the contacts you want, click Save to List, and their full email addresses are revealed and written into a prospect list. Each newly saved contact uses one lead from your plan's monthly allowance. Contacts you've already saved are free to save again.
If you searched, saw masked addresses, and assumed you were blocked — you weren't. Saving is the step that reveals them.
How much is included
Your plan includes a monthly leads allowance, and that allowance is spread evenly across the month so there's always some available rather than it all disappearing on day one:
- Pro — 1,000 leads a month, which works out to about 33 a day.
- Enterprise — 15,000 leads a month, about 500 a day.
Today's amount tops back up every day, and the monthly allowance resets on your billing anniversary. The daily pace is deliberate: it keeps a steady supply available all month and keeps saved lists at a size you can actually send to safely, which is the same reason campaigns send gradually rather than all at once. Both counters are shown at the top of the leads page, so you always know where you stand.
Need more than your plan includes in one go? One-time lead credit packs top you up beyond the free allowance. Purchased credits never expire, aren't affected by the daily pace, and are only used once your plan allowance for the day is spent — so you can always clear a big list today without changing plans.
Worked example
You want 200 marketing decision-makers in Canada. Open the leads page, set Location: Canada, Department: Marketing, Seniority: VP, and turn on Verified email only. The live count updates as you go, and none of this has cost anything yet. When the list looks right, select the contacts and click Save to List. Their email addresses are revealed, they land in a prospect list, and you can launch a campaign from that list straight away.
Option 2: Import a list that already includes emails
This is the way to give an address to contacts you already have — most often people imported from LinkedIn, who arrive with a name, title, company, and profile but no email.
- Export the list from wherever you already hold the addresses — your CRM, a spreadsheet, a previous tool.
- On the Prospects page, import the CSV and map the email column.
- People already in your account are matched to their existing record and gain the email address. People who are new are added with theirs.
Once a contact has a valid address, any email steps waiting on it start sending on the next cycle within your sending window. You don't need to rebuild the campaign or re-enroll anyone.
What the Email Verifier does — and doesn't
The verifier checks addresses you already have. It asks the receiving mail server whether an address can accept mail — without ever sending anything to it — and comes back with Valid, Invalid, Risky, or Unknown. Running a list through it before a big send is the single most effective way to keep bounces down and protect your sender reputation.
It does not find addresses. If a contact's email field is empty, there's nothing for the verifier to check — it has no way to work out what the address might be. Verification is a quality check on a list you already have, not a way to build one.
Your plan includes a monthly verification allowance — 300 a month on Pro (about 10 a day), 1,500 on Enterprise (about 50 a day) — paced the same way, topping back up daily. "Unknown" results never count against it. See why a verified list can still bounce for what each result really means.
Why isn't there a "find this person's email" button?
Because we'd have to guess, and guessing costs you your sender reputation. A LinkedIn profile doesn't reveal a person's work email — LinkedIn doesn't publish it — so any tool offering to "find" an address for an arbitrary profile is predicting one from the person's name and their company's address pattern. Some of those predictions are right. Plenty aren't.
Every wrong guess becomes a bounce, and bounces are what mailbox providers use to decide whether your future email reaches the inbox at all. A batch of invented addresses can undo weeks of warmup in a single send. We'd rather give you contacts whose addresses we actually hold, and be straight with you about the ones we don't.
So instead of a lookup button: the leads database gives you real contacts with real addresses, importing brings in the ones you already hold, and the verifier keeps both clean. If a particular person isn't in the database and you don't have their address, they can still be reached — run LinkedIn steps to them, which need only their profile.
What about contacts I imported from LinkedIn?
They usually arrive without an email address, and that's expected. When a campaign includes email steps and some of your contacts have no address, WarmySender shows a warning naming exactly how many are affected — and it skips their email steps rather than sending to a blank address, which would bounce.
Nothing is broken when you see that. Their LinkedIn steps still run normally — connection requests and messages only need the profile — and everyone else in the same campaign who does have an address still gets the email steps. The sequence keeps moving.
To bring those contacts into the email side, use either option above: import a list that already carries their addresses, or rebuild that segment from the leads database. There's more detail in why my LinkedIn-imported leads aren't getting emails.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get email addresses for my contacts?
Two ways. Build the list from the built-in leads database — searching and filtering 200M+ business contacts is free, results stay masked, and each contact's email address is revealed when you save it to a list (which uses one lead from your plan's monthly allowance). Or import a list that already includes the addresses, such as a CSV export from your CRM, and map the email column so existing contacts gain their address and new people are added with theirs.
Is there a tool that looks up someone's email from their name or LinkedIn profile?
No, and it isn't planned. A LinkedIn profile doesn't reveal a work email, so any tool offering that is predicting an address from a name and a company pattern — and every wrong prediction becomes a bounce that damages your sender reputation. WarmySender gives you contacts whose addresses we actually hold (the leads database), lets you bring in the ones you already have (import), and checks that both are safe to send to (the verifier).
Why are the email addresses hidden when I search the leads database?
So that browsing costs you nothing. Searching, filtering, and paging through results are free, and addresses stay masked while you explore — that way you can build exactly the list you want before spending anything. Selecting contacts and clicking Save to List reveals their addresses and adds them to a prospect list. If you searched and saw masked results, you weren't blocked; saving is the step that reveals them.
Can the Email Verifier find a missing email address?
No. The verifier checks an address you already have and tells you whether it's safe to send to — Valid, Invalid, Risky, or Unknown. If a contact's email field is empty there's nothing to check, because the verifier has no way to work out what the address might be. Use it as a quality check on a list you already have, not as a way to build one.
Why can I only save a certain number of leads each day?
Your plan's monthly leads allowance is spread evenly across the month — 1,000 a month on Pro works out to about 33 a day, 15,000 on Enterprise to about 500 — and today's amount tops back up every day. It's designed that way so there's always a steady supply available rather than the whole month disappearing on day one, and so saved lists stay a size you can send to safely. If you need a large batch right now, one-time lead credit packs aren't affected by the daily pace and never expire.
Once a contact has an email address, do I need to rebuild my campaign?
No. As soon as a contact has a valid address, the next send cycle within your sending window picks up their email steps and begins sending, paced normally. You don't need to rebuild the campaign or re-enroll anyone — and any LinkedIn steps they were already receiving carry on uninterrupted.
