Reconnecting a LinkedIn account and your campaigns

Short answer

If a LinkedIn account gets restricted or disconnected and you reconnect it, your campaigns keep working. WarmySender automatically keeps your campaigns pointed at the reconnected account and picks them back up on their normal schedule. There's nothing to rebuild, no need to re-attach the account to each campaign, and your prospects keep their place in every sequence.

When an account disconnects, WarmySender does the safe thing first: it pauses the campaigns running on that account so nothing is sent through an account that isn't fully connected. The moment you reconnect, those campaigns resume automatically — each prospect continues from exactly the step they were on.

There's one small edge case worth knowing about, covered lower on this page: if you happen to reconnect by adding the account again rather than refreshing the existing one, you may see an old, disconnected copy still listed on a campaign. If that happens, the fix is quick — remove the old copy, add the reconnected one, and relaunch.

WarmySender is a 4-pillar outreach platform — Cold Emailing, Email Warmup, LinkedIn Outreach, and Multichannel sequences. This page is part of the LinkedIn Outreach pillar.

Why an account pauses when it disconnects

A LinkedIn account can show as Restricted or Disconnected for a few routine reasons — LinkedIn periodically asks you to sign in again, a password or security change resets the connection, or LinkedIn temporarily limits an account and asks you to confirm it's really you.

Whenever that happens, WarmySender stops sending through the account right away and pauses the campaigns running on it. This is deliberate: your account's safety always comes first, and pushing invites or messages through an account that isn't fully connected is exactly the kind of thing we won't do. Pausing is a holding pattern, not a reset — your campaigns, prospects, and history stay exactly as they were, waiting for the account to be healthy again.

What reconnecting does for your campaigns

Reconnecting is a short, routine LinkedIn sign-in (about 30 seconds). Once the account is back to Connected, WarmySender does the rest for you:

For most people, that's the whole story: reconnect, and your outreach continues as if the pause never happened. To reconnect, go to LinkedIn → Accounts and use the Reconnect option on the affected account.

How to reconnect

  1. Go to LinkedIn → Accounts and find the account marked Restricted, Reconnect needed, or Disconnected.
  2. Click Reconnect and complete the short LinkedIn sign-in. This is the same account you already use — you're just refreshing its connection, not creating a new one.
  3. Wait for the account to show Connected. Your campaigns on that account resume automatically from there — there's nothing else to switch back on.

Reconnecting the existing account (rather than adding it fresh) is the smoothest path, because it keeps everything attached exactly where it was. For a step-by-step reconnect walkthrough and the reasons an account asks to reconnect, see Why did my LinkedIn account disconnect — and how to reconnect.

If you see an old disconnected copy still on a campaign

Sometimes people reconnect by adding the account again — connecting it as if it were new — instead of refreshing the existing one. When that happens, you can end up with two entries for the same LinkedIn account: the newly reconnected one, and an older copy that still shows as disconnected. A campaign that was set up with the old copy may still be pointing at that older, disconnected entry, which is why it can look like the campaign won't resume even though the account is clearly back.

The fix is quick. On the affected campaign:

  1. Open the campaign and go to its LinkedIn account selection (in the campaign's setup or settings).
  2. Remove the old, disconnected copy of the account from the campaign.
  3. Add the reconnected account (the one showing as Connected) in its place.
  4. Relaunch the campaign. It picks back up on the healthy account, and your prospects continue from where they were.

Once you've done that, the campaign runs on the reconnected account normally. To avoid the duplicate entirely next time, use the Reconnect option on the existing account instead of adding it again — reconnecting in place keeps your campaigns attached automatically with no swap needed.

A quick example

Say you have one LinkedIn account running a 3-step outreach campaign, and 40 of your prospects have already accepted your connection request and are moving through the sequence. LinkedIn asks you to confirm the account, so it shows as Restricted and the campaign pauses.

Your email tools keep running

A LinkedIn disconnect only affects the LinkedIn side. Your cold email campaigns keep sending and your email warmup keeps running on your email plan, completely independent of your LinkedIn account's status.

If you run Multichannel sequences that mix email and LinkedIn steps, the email steps continue to send normally while the account is disconnected — only the LinkedIn steps wait until the account is reconnected. The sequence itself doesn't stop; it simply holds the LinkedIn actions until the account is healthy, then continues them.

Common questions

Do my campaigns keep working after I reconnect a LinkedIn account?

Yes. When you reconnect an account that was restricted or disconnected, WarmySender automatically keeps your campaigns pointed at the reconnected account and resumes them on their normal schedule. Each prospect continues from the exact step they were on — you don't need to rebuild anything or re-attach the account.

Do I need to re-attach the account to each campaign after reconnecting?

No — as long as you reconnect the existing account (refresh it) rather than add it again. Reconnecting in place keeps the account attached to your campaigns automatically. The only time you'd re-attach is the edge case where you reconnected by adding the account as new and a campaign is still pointing at the old, disconnected copy.

Why does a campaign still show an old, disconnected LinkedIn account?

That usually means the account was reconnected by adding it again instead of refreshing the existing one, which leaves two entries for the same account — the reconnected one and an older disconnected copy. A campaign set up with the old copy keeps pointing at it. To fix it, open the campaign, remove the old disconnected copy, add the reconnected account in its place, and relaunch.

How do I swap the old account copy for the reconnected one?

Open the affected campaign and go to its LinkedIn account selection. Remove the old, disconnected copy, add the reconnected account (the one showing as Connected), and relaunch the campaign. It then runs on the healthy account, and your prospects continue from where they were. To avoid the duplicate next time, use Reconnect on the existing account rather than adding it again.

Will reconnecting cause a burst of messages to catch up?

No. After you reconnect, sending resumes at your normal, safe pace — within your sending window, under your daily and weekly limits, and on your account's ramp. Account safety always comes first, so even after a long disconnect the account won't suddenly try to send everything at once.

Did I lose my prospects, progress, or analytics?

No. A disconnect pauses your campaigns without erasing anything. Your prospects, their exact position in each sequence, your templates and audiences, and your history and analytics are all preserved. Reconnecting picks everything back up right where it left off.

Does a LinkedIn disconnect affect my cold email or warmup?

No. A LinkedIn disconnect only pauses the LinkedIn side. Your cold email campaigns keep sending and your email warmup keeps running on your email plan with no change. In Multichannel sequences, email steps continue and only LinkedIn steps wait for the account to be reconnected.

What if reconnecting doesn't seem to bring the account back?

First, confirm the account shows Connected on the LinkedIn → Accounts page. If a specific campaign still won't resume, check whether it's pointing at an old, disconnected copy of the account and swap it for the reconnected one as described above. If the account won't reach Connected after two tries, or it keeps asking to reconnect, email [email protected] with your account email and we'll take a look.
