React to, edit, and delete LinkedIn messages
Hover over any message in a LinkedIn conversation in your WarmySender Inbox and a small row of controls appears: react with an emoji, edit a message you sent, or delete it. It's the same set of quick actions you'd reach for inside LinkedIn's own messenger — a thumbs-up on a good reply, a fast fix for a typo, a delete for the message you fired off too soon — except you do it right where you manage your campaigns, so you never have to jump over to LinkedIn to tidy up a conversation.
What can I do to a message from the Inbox?
Three things, all from the controls that appear when you hover over a message: add an emoji reaction to any message (yours or theirs), edit the wording of a message you sent, and delete a message you sent. Reactions work on every message in the thread; editing and deleting apply only to your own messages, because you can only change what you wrote.
- React (the smiley icon)
- Add an emoji reaction to any message in the conversation — a quick, low-effort way to acknowledge a reply, say thanks, or react to good news without typing a full message. You pick from a small set of emoji, the same way you would on LinkedIn.
- Edit (the pencil icon)
- Change the text of a message you already sent — perfect for fixing a typo, a wrong name, or an autocorrect slip. Editing is available for a limited time after you send, which is LinkedIn's own rule, not ours (see how long you have).
- Delete (the trash icon)
- Remove a message you sent from the conversation, on both sides. Like editing, deletion is available for a limited window after sending — again, LinkedIn's rule. Delete is permanent and can't be undone, so it asks you to confirm first.
These controls are part of WarmySender's LinkedIn Outreach pillar. WarmySender is a 4-pillar outreach platform — Cold Emailing, Email Warmup, LinkedIn Outreach, and Multichannel sequences — and having react, edit, and delete right in the Inbox is part of what makes it a real messaging surface rather than a one-way send tool.
How do I add an emoji reaction to a message?
Hover over the message you want to react to, click the smiley icon in the controls that appear, and choose an emoji — the reaction shows on the message straight away, on both sides of the conversation. It's the quickest way to respond when a full typed reply isn't needed.
- Open the LinkedIn conversation in your Inbox.
- Hover over the message you want to react to (it can be one you sent or one the other person sent).
- Click the smiley icon in the row of controls that appears.
- Pick an emoji from the small set offered.
- The reaction appears on the message immediately — no extra send step.
Reactions are a great way to keep a warm conversation moving without over-messaging: a thumbs-up on "Sounds good, let's talk next week" acknowledges it cleanly, keeps the thread tidy, and doesn't push another notification the way a "great!" reply would.
How do I edit a message I already sent?
Hover over your own message, click the pencil icon, change the text, and save — the corrected version replaces the original in the conversation. Use it to fix a typo, a wrong first name, or a line autocorrect mangled, without having to send an awkward "*correction" follow-up.
- Open the conversation in your Inbox and find the message you sent.
- Hover over it and click the pencil (edit) icon.
- Edit the text in place.
- Save. The updated wording replaces the original for both you and the other person.
Editing is only available for your own messages, and only for a limited time after you send (LinkedIn's own limit — see the next question). If the edit control isn't showing on an older message, that window has passed; the cleanest fix then is a short follow-up message with the correction.
How do I delete a message I sent?
Hover over your own message, click the trash icon, and confirm — the message is removed from the conversation on both sides. It's the right move for a message sent to the wrong person, a duplicate, or something you'd rather they didn't see, as long as you act within the delete window.
- Open the conversation in your Inbox and find the message you sent.
- Hover over it and click the trash (delete) icon.
- Confirm in the dialog — deletion is permanent and can't be undone.
- The message is removed from the conversation for both you and the other person.
Because delete can't be undone, it always asks you to confirm first. If the delete control isn't there on an older message, the delete window has closed — that's LinkedIn's rule, and there's no way around it from any tool; a brief clarifying message is usually the best next step.
How long do I have to edit or delete a message?
You can edit or delete a message you sent for a short window right after sending — this is LinkedIn's own limit, roughly an hour, not something WarmySender sets or can extend. Inside that window the pencil and trash icons appear when you hover over your message; once it passes, they no longer show, because LinkedIn no longer permits the change.
This is exactly the same behavior you'd get inside LinkedIn's own messenger, and it's why acting quickly matters: if you spot a typo or a wrong recipient, fix or remove it soon after sending. After the window closes, the practical option is a short follow-up message — "Quick correction: I meant Q3, not Q2" reads perfectly naturally and often better than a silent edit would have.
Do these controls work on messages my campaign sent?
Yes. A message that went out as part of a LinkedIn campaign step lands in the same conversation in your Inbox, so you can react to it, and — within LinkedIn's edit/delete window — edit or delete it just like a message you typed by hand. That's handy if a campaign step went out with a small mistake and you catch it quickly.
Editing or deleting one already-sent message in a conversation changes only that message — it doesn't alter your campaign's saved steps or affect what future prospects receive. To change the wording for everyone still to come, edit the campaign step itself in the campaign builder; to fix a single already-sent message for one person, use these Inbox controls.

Common adjacent questions about reacting to, editing, and deleting LinkedIn messages in WarmySender.
Can I edit a LinkedIn message after I've sent it?
Yes, for a short time after sending. Hover over your message in the Inbox and click the pencil icon to change the text. Editing is available only for a limited window after you send — that's LinkedIn's own limit, roughly an hour, not a WarmySender setting. Once the window passes the pencil no longer appears, and the cleanest fix is a short follow-up message with the correction.
How long do I have to delete a message?
Roughly an hour after you send it — the delete window is set by LinkedIn, not by WarmySender, so it's the same whether you delete from WarmySender or from LinkedIn itself. Within that window, hover over your message and click the trash icon. After it closes, the message can't be deleted from any tool; a brief clarifying message is usually the best next step.
Can I react to a message the other person sent?
Yes. Reactions work on any message in the conversation, including ones the other person sent to you. Hover over their message, click the smiley icon, and pick an emoji — a quick, friendly way to acknowledge a reply without sending a full message and another notification.
Is deleting a message permanent?
Yes — deletion can't be undone, which is why WarmySender asks you to confirm before it deletes. Once confirmed, the message is removed from the conversation for both you and the other person. If you only want to change the wording rather than remove the message entirely, use edit (the pencil icon) instead, within the same short window.
Why don't I see the edit or delete icon on an older message?
Because the short window LinkedIn allows for editing and deleting has passed. The pencil and trash icons appear on your messages only while that window is open (about an hour after sending); after that they're hidden because LinkedIn no longer permits the change. The reaction (smiley) icon still works on older messages — only editing and deleting are time-limited.
Will editing or deleting change my campaign?
No. Editing or deleting a single already-sent message only affects that one message in that one conversation — it doesn't touch your campaign's saved steps or what future prospects will receive. To change the wording for everyone still to come, edit the campaign step in the builder; to fix one message already sent to one person, use these Inbox controls.
Do I have to open LinkedIn to react, edit, or delete?
No. React, edit, and delete all happen inside the WarmySender Inbox — hover over the message and use the controls that appear. The change flows straight through to the LinkedIn conversation, so the other person sees it exactly as if you'd done it on LinkedIn, and you never have to leave WarmySender.
