See when your LinkedIn messages are delivered and read

Every LinkedIn message you send from your WarmySender Inbox now shows a small delivery status underneath it: a single check the moment it's Sent, a double check once LinkedIn confirms it was Delivered to the person, and Seen (with the time) once they've opened the conversation and read it. You don't turn anything on — the status appears automatically on each message you send, so you always know whether your outreach landed and whether it's been read before you decide to follow up.

What do the Sent, Delivered, and Seen indicators mean?

They are three small status labels that appear under each LinkedIn message you send, telling you exactly how far it has travelled — from leaving your outbox, to reaching the person, to being read. They move forward on their own as the message progresses, so a message that starts as "Sent" turns into "Delivered" and then "Seen" without you refreshing anything.

Sent (single check)
Your message has left WarmySender and is on its way to the recipient on LinkedIn. This is the first status every message gets the instant you hit send.
Delivered (double check)
LinkedIn has confirmed the message reached the person's inbox. It's now sitting in their conversation, waiting to be opened — the same as a message landing in someone's email inbox before they open it.
Seen (with a time)
The person has opened the conversation and read your message. You'll see "Seen" together with when it happened — for example "Seen 2:14 PM" — so you know they've actually laid eyes on it, not just received it.

These indicators are part of WarmySender's LinkedIn Outreach pillar. WarmySender is a 4-pillar outreach platform — Cold Emailing, Email Warmup, LinkedIn Outreach, and Multichannel sequences — and read receipts are one of the premium touches that make the LinkedIn Inbox feel like a real messaging app rather than a plain send log.

Where do I see the delivery status?

Open your Inbox from the left navigation, choose a LinkedIn conversation, and look just below each message you sent. The status sits in small, muted text under your message bubble — you won't see it under messages the other person sent, because these statuses are about your outbound messages only. As you scroll a longer conversation, each of your messages carries its own status, so you can tell at a glance which ones were read and which are still just delivered.

You'll find the same statuses whether the message was one you typed by hand in the Inbox or one that went out as part of a LinkedIn campaign step — every message you send to a connection flows into the same conversation view and picks up its own Sent → Delivered → Seen status.

What's the difference between "Delivered" and "Seen"?

"Delivered" means the message arrived in the person's LinkedIn inbox; "Seen" means they actually opened the conversation and read it. Delivered is like a letter reaching someone's mailbox — it's there, but you don't yet know if they've opened the envelope. Seen is the confirmation they've read it.

This distinction is the useful part for outreach: a message that's been "Delivered" for a while but not "Seen" tells you a gentle nudge later might help, whereas a "Seen" with no reply tells you they've read it and are choosing not to respond yet — a very different follow-up situation. Reading the room from these two states is exactly what the indicators are for.

Why does a message show "Delivered" but never "Seen"?

Almost always because the person simply hasn't opened the conversation yet — the message is waiting in their inbox unread. There's nothing wrong on your side; "Delivered" is a perfectly healthy status and many messages sit there for hours or days before someone reads them.

A couple of other everyday reasons a "Seen" might not appear: the recipient may have read receipts turned off on their own LinkedIn account, in which case LinkedIn never reports a read back to anyone (this is their personal setting, not something you control); or they may have previewed the message from a notification without fully opening the conversation. None of these mean your message failed — it was delivered. If a message is stuck on the single-check "Sent" for a long time and never reaches "Delivered," that's the case to look at more closely; see the next question.

Why is my message stuck on "Sent" and not moving to "Delivered"?

The most common reason is that the connected LinkedIn account you sent from needs a quick reconnect — when an account's session lapses, new messages can leave WarmySender but can't yet be confirmed as delivered until you sign back in. Open LinkedIn → Accounts, and if any account shows a reconnect prompt, follow it; once the account is healthy again, delivery confirmations catch up on their own.

If every account shows as connected and a message still hasn't reached "Delivered" after a while, it's worth a closer look — email [email protected] with the recipient's name and roughly when you sent it, and we'll check the specific message.

Do campaign messages show read receipts too?

Yes. Messages that go out as part of a LinkedIn campaign step land in the same conversation in your Inbox and pick up the same Sent → Delivered → Seen statuses as messages you type by hand. So you can watch a sequence land in real terms — see which prospects have read your latest step and which haven't — right alongside your manual replies.

To review exactly what a campaign sent to a specific prospect, use the Messages panel on the campaign's Prospects tab; to watch delivery and read status conversation-by-conversation, use the Inbox. The two views complement each other.

Common adjacent questions about read receipts on LinkedIn messages in WarmySender.

Does "Seen" mean they read my message, or just that it was delivered?

"Seen" means they opened the conversation and read it — it's a stronger signal than "Delivered." Delivered means the message reached their LinkedIn inbox; Seen (shown with a time, like "Seen 2:14 PM") means they actually opened it. If you only see "Delivered," the message is waiting in their inbox but they haven't opened the conversation yet.

Can I see when someone read a message I sent from a campaign?

Yes. Campaign messages appear in the same conversation view in your Inbox and carry the same Sent, Delivered, and Seen statuses. So you can tell which prospects have read your latest campaign step and which are still sitting on "Delivered," which is useful for timing a manual follow-up.

Why does a message never show "Seen"?

Usually because the person hasn't opened the conversation yet — it's still unread in their inbox, which is completely normal. It can also happen if the recipient has read receipts switched off on their own LinkedIn account, in which case LinkedIn doesn't report a read back to anyone. Either way, "Delivered" confirms your message reached them.

Do I need to turn read receipts on?

No. The Sent, Delivered, and Seen statuses appear automatically under every LinkedIn message you send from the Inbox — there's no setting to enable and nothing to configure. Just open a conversation and the status is there under each of your messages.

Can the other person see whether I've read their messages?

Read receipts on LinkedIn are governed by LinkedIn's own read-receipt setting on each person's account, which works both ways on the platform. WarmySender shows you the delivery and read status of the messages you send; how your own reading is reported to others follows your LinkedIn account's read-receipt preference, which you manage in your LinkedIn settings.

My message is stuck on a single check — what do I do?

A message stuck on "Sent" (the single check) usually means the account you sent from needs a quick reconnect. Open LinkedIn → Accounts and follow any reconnect prompt; delivery confirmations catch up automatically once the account is healthy. If everything shows connected and it's still stuck, email [email protected] with the recipient's name and the send time.

Is there a delivered/read status for cold emails too?

For email, WarmySender tracks opens and clicks rather than a LinkedIn-style "Seen" — see accurate open and click tracking. In a multichannel campaign you get the best of both: LinkedIn messages show Sent/Delivered/Seen, and the email steps show open and click activity, so you can read engagement across both channels in one place.
