What your AI agent can and cannot do with cold email

Your AI agent can build, launch, pause, resume and report on your cold email campaigns, create and enroll prospects, work from your saved templates, verify email addresses and configure warmup — all in plain language. It can never send a single message itself, never raise a limit, never connect or disconnect an account, and never outrun the ramp. Those four are not settings we left switched on; there is simply nothing an agent can call that does them.

That split is the whole design. Your agent is very good at the setup and the reporting — the parts that are slow to click through. The moment anything is due to actually leave your mailbox, it is WarmySender's scheduler that decides, using the same daily caps, gradual ramp and sending window it applies when you press the buttons yourself. Whoever is driving, the pacing is identical.

What can my agent do?

Cold email, capability by capability: what your connected AI agent can and cannot do.
Area Your agent can Your agent cannot
Campaigns Create a multi-step campaign, edit it, set the sending window and daily limits, start it, pause it, resume it, and list everything with its stats Send any of its messages, or set a daily limit above what your plan and your mailboxes allow
Prospects Create people one at a time or in bulk, update their details, enroll them into a campaign, and take them back out Add anyone past your plan's contact limit, or contact someone on your suppression list
Templates and copy List your saved email templates and read one in full, then build a campaign from it Post or publish anything outside your own workspace
Email verification Check one address or submit a whole list, cancel a batch, read results, check what allowance is left, and turn confirmed addresses into a list Verify faster than your allowance and the same safe pacing permit, or top up your own allowance
Warmup Turn warmup on for a mailbox, set its strategy and target volume, apply the same settings across many mailboxes at once, and read how reputation is building Skip warmup stages, or push a mailbox past the ramp it is currently on
Mailboxes List your mailboxes and report on the health of each one Connect a mailbox, disconnect one, or see any password
Deliverability setup Add a tracking domain, check whether its records are in place, remove one, and list what you have Change your domain's sending tier or lift a domain-wide ceiling
Compliance Read your suppression list, add addresses or whole domains to it, set your company address, and switch the opt-out between a footer link and a reply-to-opt-out line Remove the opt-out from your emails — the mechanism can change, it can never be switched off
Leads Search the built-in business database, save what it finds to a list, and export it Spend more of your lead allowance than the daily pace allows
Reporting Answer "how did this campaign do", "who replied", "which mailboxes look weak this week" and "why did this send nothing yesterday" Read anything outside your own workspace

Why can't my agent send?

Because sending is a scheduling decision, not a chat decision. When your agent starts a campaign, all that happens is the campaign is written down and handed over. From then on WarmySender decides what leaves and when: it spreads the day's sends across your sending window, respects each mailbox's daily limit, keeps the whole domain under its ceiling, honours your plan's allowance and skips anyone on your suppression list. If your agent misunderstands you and enrolls five thousand people, the result is not five thousand emails — it is a queue that drains at your normal safe pace, and a queue you can pause with one sentence.

That is also why "can an AI agent send cold emails for me" has a slightly surprising answer: nothing sends them but WarmySender, and that is the reassuring part.

Why can't my agent raise a limit?

There is no way to ask for one. Nothing an agent can call moves a daily cap, a warmup stage or a domain's ceiling — those live on the other side of the line, changed only by you in the app or, for the domain-wide ceilings, by us on review. You can ask your agent to set a campaign's daily limit, and it will — but the number that actually applies is still the lowest of your per-mailbox limit, your mailbox's combined warmup-and-cold budget, your domain's ceiling and your plan's allowance. Asking twice does not change the arithmetic.

For the numbers themselves, see how many cold emails you can send per day — the canonical table.

Why can't my agent connect my mailbox?

Deliberate security choice. Connecting a mailbox or a social account means handling a credential, and no credential should ever pass through an agent, a chat log or a third-party app. So there is no connect step an agent can perform — you add and remove accounts yourself in WarmySender, and your agent works with whatever is already connected. It never sees a mailbox password, a social login or a billing detail.

What if my agent gets something wrong?

Two things limit the damage, and one thing fixes it.

If you want a cautious start, create a read-only key in Settings → API Keys and let your agent answer questions for a week before you give it permission to change anything.

Frequently asked questions

Can an AI agent send emails for me?

It can build and launch the campaign, but it never sends the emails. Starting a campaign hands it to WarmySender's scheduler, which paces every message inside your sending window, your per-mailbox daily limit, your domain's ceiling and your plan's allowance. Nothing about that changes because an agent asked rather than a person.

Can an AI agent raise my sending limits?

No, and there is no way for it to ask. Daily caps, warmup stages and domain-wide ceilings cannot be moved by anything an agent can call. Your agent can set a campaign's daily limit, but the number that actually applies is still the lowest of your mailbox limit, your mailbox's combined warmup-and-cold budget, your domain's ceiling and your plan's allowance.

Can an AI agent connect my mailbox for me?

No. Connecting and disconnecting mailboxes and social accounts stays in the app on purpose, so no credential ever passes through an agent. Your agent works with the accounts you have already connected, and it never sees a password, a social login or a billing detail.

What can my agent actually build?

A complete campaign: multi-step sequences, the sending window, daily limits, which mailboxes to send from, and the people enrolled in it. It can also create prospects one at a time or in bulk, work from your saved templates, add addresses or whole domains to your suppression list, add a tracking domain, verify addresses before you send to them and configure warmup across many mailboxes at once.

Can my agent set up email warmup?

Yes. It can turn warmup on for a mailbox, choose its strategy and target volume, apply the same settings across a whole set of mailboxes in one go, and report on how each mailbox's reputation is building. What it cannot do is shorten the ramp — warmup rises gradually on its own schedule, and asking for more does not move it.

What happens if my agent makes a mistake in a campaign?

Far less than you would fear, because nothing goes out in a burst. A mis-briefed campaign leaves at your normal daily pace, so there is time to catch it; pausing is one sentence and is never blocked; and everything your agent built is a normal campaign you can open, edit or delete in the app. If you would rather start cautiously, create a read-only key and let your agent answer questions before you let it change anything.

Can I give my agent read-only access?

Yes. When you create a key in Settings → API Keys you choose exactly which permissions it carries, so a read-only key lets your agent report on campaigns, mailbox health and verification results while being unable to create, change or launch anything. You can revoke or replace a key at any time and access stops immediately.
