Why did my campaign finish without sending any emails?
Short answer
Your campaign finished showing 0 emails sent because every contact in it was on your suppression list — the list of people your campaigns will never email. When there's no one left to send to, the campaign has nothing to do, so it wraps up right away as finished with nothing sent.
This is almost always expected behavior, not a bug. The most common reason it happens: you were testing with your own email address after you'd already clicked your own "unsubscribe" link, which put your address on the suppression list. Real campaigns built from fresh contacts send normally.
What the suppression list is (and why it protects you)
Your suppression list is a safety net. It quietly holds every address that your campaigns should not email, so you never accidentally message someone who has opted out or can't receive mail. WarmySender checks this list before every send and skips anyone on it. An address usually lands on the list in one of three ways:
- They unsubscribed. Anyone who clicks the unsubscribe link in one of your emails is added automatically — including you, if you click your own link to test it.
- Their address bounced. If a message can't be delivered because the mailbox doesn't exist or is closed, that address is set aside so you don't keep emailing a dead inbox.
- You marked them do-not-contact. Addresses (or whole domains) you add to your blocklist yourself — for example a "do not contact" list of customers, competitors, or people who asked to be left alone.
Skipping these contacts is what keeps your sender reputation healthy and keeps you compliant with anti-spam rules. Emailing people who opted out, or repeatedly hitting addresses that bounce, is exactly what makes mailbox providers start sending your mail to spam — so the suppression list is working for you.
When every contact is suppressed, there's nothing to send
A campaign only sends to contacts who are not on your suppression list. If some contacts are suppressed, those are skipped and the rest send normally. But if every contact in the campaign happens to be on the list, there's simply no one left to email — so the campaign finishes immediately with 0 sent. That "finished, nothing sent" result is the expected outcome, not a failure.
This comes up most often during testing. A very common sequence: you send yourself a test email, you click your own unsubscribe link to make sure it works (which adds your address to the suppression list), and then you build a new test campaign using only your own address. Because your address is now suppressed, the new campaign has no eligible contacts and finishes with nothing sent.
How to check whether this is what happened
Two quick places confirm it:
- Look for the "some contacts were skipped" note on the campaign. When a campaign skips people because they're suppressed, it tells you — you'll see a short note that some contacts were skipped. If the number skipped matches your whole list, that's your answer.
- Open the campaign's Prospects tab and check each contact's status. Anyone on the suppression list shows a Suppressed status. If every contact reads Suppressed, the campaign correctly had no one to send to.
How to test properly (and get your emails flowing)
Two easy paths, depending on what you're trying to do:
- Use fresh contacts that aren't on your list. Add contacts who have never unsubscribed or bounced — for a real test, a second address you haven't unsubscribed works well. The campaign will send to them normally.
- Remove an address you unsubscribed by mistake. If you suppressed your own address (or someone else's) just to test the unsubscribe link, you can take it back off the list so it can receive campaigns again. Open Settings → Blocklist, find the address, and remove it. On the next send it's eligible again.
A quick note of caution: only remove an address you're sure asked to be there by accident. If someone genuinely unsubscribed, leave them on the list — continuing to email people who opted out hurts your reputation and isn't compliant.
A quick example
Say you're setting up your first campaign and want to see it work end to end:
- You send yourself a test and click the unsubscribe link to confirm it works. Your address is now on your suppression list.
- You build a new campaign with just your own address as the only contact, launch it, and it immediately shows finished · 0 sent. The Prospects tab shows your one contact as Suppressed.
- The fix: either add a different, fresh contact you haven't unsubscribed, or go to Settings → Blocklist and remove your own address. Relaunch, and the campaign sends normally.
Nothing was broken at any point — the campaign was correctly protecting you from emailing an address that had opted out.
Real campaigns still send normally
To be clear: a campaign built from fresh contacts sends exactly as you'd expect. Only already-opted-out contacts — people who unsubscribed, bounced, or were marked do-not-contact — are skipped. If your list is a mix, the suppressed ones are set aside and everyone else is emailed on your normal schedule.
WarmySender is a 4-pillar outreach platform — Cold Emailing, Email Warmup, LinkedIn Outreach, and Multichannel sequences. Suppression protection applies to your cold email sends; in a Multichannel sequence, email steps skip suppressed contacts while the other channels continue as designed.
Common questions
Why did my campaign finish with 0 emails sent?
Because every contact in it was on your suppression list — the list of people your campaigns never email (anyone who unsubscribed, bounced, or was marked do-not-contact). With no eligible contacts left, the campaign has nothing to send, so it finishes immediately showing 0 sent. That's the expected result, not a bug.
I only added my own email and nothing sent — what happened?
You most likely clicked your own unsubscribe link earlier (for example while testing), which added your address to your suppression list. A campaign that contains only a suppressed address has no one to send to, so it finishes with nothing sent. Add a fresh contact you haven't unsubscribed, or remove your address from Settings → Blocklist, then relaunch.
How do I know a contact was skipped for being suppressed?
Two places tell you. The campaign shows a short "some contacts were skipped" note when it sets suppressed people aside. And on the campaign's Prospects tab, each suppressed contact shows a Suppressed status. If every contact reads Suppressed, the campaign correctly had no one to email.
How do I send a real test then?
Use a fresh contact that isn't on your suppression list — a second address you've never unsubscribed works well. Or, if you suppressed your own address only to test the unsubscribe link, remove it under Settings → Blocklist so it becomes eligible again. On the next send the campaign will deliver normally.
Is it safe to remove someone from the suppression list?
Only remove an address you're certain was added by accident — for example your own address that you unsubscribed just to test the link. If someone genuinely unsubscribed or asked not to be contacted, leave them on the list: continuing to email people who opted out harms your sender reputation and isn't compliant.
Will my other campaigns still send normally?
Yes. Campaigns built from fresh contacts send exactly as expected. Only already-opted-out contacts (unsubscribed, bounced, or do-not-contact) are skipped. If a campaign has a mix, the suppressed contacts are set aside and everyone else is emailed on your normal schedule.
